Blood Diamond Review
Blood Diamond tells the story of two African men searching for a rare pink
diamond. They embark on a dangerous and lengthy journey through rebel territory
to try find the diamond and to also save a young boy who had been forced to work
in the diamond fields.
This film is not for the feint hearted. Civil war sets the background for the plot,
there is no safety and there is violence, blood and murder throughout. Images of
the tortuous diamond field slaves and the methods of diamond smuggling can be
very disturbing. However, the plot is action packed, with hints of romance and
Leonardo Di Caprio to please the girls.
Blood Diamond is packed with action and violence from start to finish and the
intensity is excellent for films of this genre. Di Caprio and Djimon Hounson both
provide decent performances while nothing excellent. This is a stray from Di
Caprio's usual mellow roles and he manages to cope.
Blood Diamond shows the terrible conditions and the unfairness of the diamond
trade, with wealthy people enjoying the stones with little knowledge of the pain and
blood shed for them. This was a good film, however concentration is required to
follow the plot.

seat. As a girl there was just too much gore and violence. I do not go to the cinema to see someone
have their arm chopped off!”
