This film is based around the first book the bestselling Dark
Materials series by Phillip Pullman.
The story focuses on the struggle of a young girl called
Lyra to protect the Golden Compass, capable of telling the
truth, from the Majesterium in the form of Nicole Kidman.
Even if you have not read the book the plot is easy to follow
with few complexities. Moreover, the film does miss out
some sections of the book which may ruin the film for those
who have read the book.
The producers of the film have done brilliantly to
incorporate the magic of the books in a film. This results in
spectacular special effects and an awesome fight scene
between two rival polar bears.
This film is suitable for all ages and there are some
moments for adults to enjoy along with the fantasy
characters that young children will love.
Ultimately, this film was very enjoyable and worth-seeing
and probably worth buying on DVD. Look forward to the
next installment.
